Chairman – Stephen Bizzell (BCom ACA MAICD)
Stephen is a Chartered Accountant and started his career at Coopers & Lybrand in their Corporate Taxation division and then Ernst & Young in their Corporate Finance division.
He has worked independently since 1994 and work performed by Stephen has included acting as lead adviser and as principal on numerous transactions and providing advice on corporate structuring issues, private and public capital raisings, ASX listings, valuations, mergers, acquisitions and divestments and strategic and general corporate advice to a large range of clients in a variety of industries.
Major industry specialisations include minerals, energy and financial services sectors.
As a result of his participation in various transactions, Stephen has maintained executive and directorship roles with a number of companies focusing predominantly on strategic issues, business development and finance matters.
Stephen recently stepped down as Executive Director of Arrow Energy, a company he co-founded in 1999, after its sale to a JV between Shell and PetroChina for $3.5 billion.
Stephen’s current ASX listed company directorships Include Dart Energy Ltd (Executive Director), Renison Consolidated Mines NL (Chairman), Hot Rock Ltd, Stanmore Coal Ltd, Renaissance Uranium Ltd and Diversa Ltd.
Executive Director - Simon Poidevin OAM
Simon joined Bizzell Capital Partners in September 2011 and has worked in Investment Markets for 26 years, specialising in Institutional Equities, Investment Banking and Funds Management.
Simon began his career in the securities industry with McNall & Hordern,as a Partner in 1984. He joined Potts West Trumbull in 1989 as a Director for Research Sales, and then Citigroup legacy firm, County Natwest in 1995. Simon spent 14 years with Citigroup and was a Managing Director and Head of Corporate Equity Broking before moving to Funds Management in April 2009 with Pengana Capital as an Executive Director.
Poidevin is also a former Wallaby who represented Australia in 59 Rugby Union Tests. He captained the Wallabies and played in two World Cups including Australia's win in 1991. He was awarded an OAM in 1988, inducted into the Australian Sports Hall of Fame in 1991 and honoured with a Centenary Medal in 2003. He is on the Board of the University of NSW Foundation and is a non-executive director of Dart Energy Ltd and Diversa Ltd.
Simon retains a strong association with Australian Rugby as Co-President of the Classic Wallabies.
Executive Director – Ben Harrison (BSc MAppFin SA Fin)
Ben Harrison is an executive director with Bizzell Capital Partners. Prior to joining Bizzell Capital Partners he worked in the corporate finance team at a leading corporate advisory firm where he was involved in a number of high profile capital market and M&A transactions in the resources and industrial sectors. Prior to this Ben worked as an equities analyst specialising in the minerals and energy sectors.
Ben commenced his career as a project manager for an international engineering consulting firm, working on a number of large infrastructure projects in Australia and Southeast Asia.
Ben has significant experience in project management, financial analysis, primary and secondary market transactions and M&A. He also has broad experience in private equity and direct investments and is involved at board and management level in investee companies on behalf of Bizzell Capital Partners and its related entities.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Applied Finance and Investment and is a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Ben currently serves as a non-executive director of ASX listed AusNiCo Ltd and Navaho Gold Ltd
Portfolio Manager - Peter Wright (B Ec/B Comm, B AppFin)
Peter manages the BCP Alpha Investments fund with Stephen Bizzell. Prior to joining BCP Peter has spent 13 years in Equity markets, firstly at State Street and then at Burrell Stockbroking in Brisbane for 12 years beginning as a seats operator before moving Into principal trading.
Over the twelve years at Burrell’s Peters focus has been the ASX Mining Sector in the first instance as a principle trader and subsequently as an analyst focusing on the Mid Cap Mining Sector with specialities being Iron Ore, Copper and Coal.
Peter holds both a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics from the ANU in Canberra and a graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.
Andrew Barber (BSc. Hons, Grad Dip Finance and Investment)
Andrew graduated with an Honours Degree in Science from the University of Tasmania with a major in Geology. Following graduation he commenced a seven year role with Mt Isa Mines as a geologist working on exploration, development and operational projects in northwest Queensland.
Subsequent to this Andrew joined Perpetual Investments in Sydney as a Resources Analyst which was the start of over eleven years in the funds management industry. He also worked with Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) in Brisbane where he covered not just the Resources and Energy sectors but also Transport, Telecoms, Building Materials, Paper and Packaging and the Developers and Contractors.
For the last three years Andrew has utilised his extensive experience in the equity markets combined with a solid technical base to provide investor relations services to a variety of companies including Arrow Energy, Bow Energy and Stanmore Coal.
During this period he has been involved in the Demerger of Dart Energy from Arrow Energy and the subsequent acquisition of Arrow Energy by Shell and PetroChina. Other investor relations activities have included conducting AGM’s, publication of Annual Reports, management of Investor Road-shows, involvement of capital raisings, participation in industry and investor conferences, liaison with brokers and investors, maintenance of corporate websites, management of share registry and beneficial ownership activities and proxy solicitation.
